One of my favorite things about senior sessions is when they truly reflect who the senior is at this point in their life. Cash’s senior session was the perfect example of that. Instead of choosing a faraway location, we stayed close to home and photographed in the places that make up his everyday world.
In a way, this session felt like we were in his own backyard—metaphorically speaking. Each stop during his session was somewhere meaningful to him and part of the life he’s grown up living. Each one had memories with friends, family, or just moments alone when God was shaping who he’d turn out to be. With his mom as my tour guide, we got to see Cash’s childhood through his eyes!
Our first stop was on an old back road near his home where he would often ride his dirt bike. I loved that he wanted to show case his dirt bike as it really showcased his personality, his pride after fixing it up and working on it so many nights, and the things he loves doing. Whether it was leaning against the bike or riding along the property, it added a fun and adventurous element to the session.

Another must for his senior session was incorporating Cash’s old truck that once belonged to his dad. While much older than he, his truck had personality and piece of home attached to it. The photos with his truck are some of my favorite from the whole session.
Pictures of his truck reminds me of the song by Thomas Rhett- “That Old Truck”
“I grew up in it
I got stuck in it
Jamming our song on the stereo
Driving ’til we ran outta road
Yeah, I broke up in it
I fell in love in it
I made a lifetime full of memories
On a half tank of gasoline
Yeah, I learned who I wasn’t and who I was
Yeah, whoever’s got it now, I hope they love
That old truck
That old truck”
These are the little details that make senior photos unique. Years from now, looking back at these images will bring back memories of late-night drives, weekends with friends, and all the moments that come with senior year.

Next up, we stopped by barn just up the street from Cash’s house. The rustic wood, open fields, and quiet countryside created the perfect backdrop. It felt authentic to his lifestyle and gave his photos a timeless, country feel that fit him perfectly.
Locations like this are one of the many reasons I love photographing seniors in and around Bowling Green. You don’t always need a busy downtown or a styled studio when the natural beauty and character of a place already tell a story.
I highly recommend bringing props or meaningful items to your senior session—like Cash’s truck and dirt bike—because they help tell the story of who you are during this season of your life. Adding in special locations is like choosing the background of a picture. While you are the subject, the background helps set the tone.

We finished the evening at bridge overlooking the creek that he has spent hours of his childhood fishing at. His mom stood nearby, tearing up as it hit her that a new adventure was about to begin for him. This was a year of lasts. What better way for his mom to preserve these memories than with senior portraits that capture the place where he grew up and became the man he is today.
Creeks, fields, farms, and wooded areas are some of my favorite hidden gems around the Bowling Green area- especially when they hold special meaning like this one did for Cash and his mom. They create beautiful backdrops while still feeling personal and connected to home.

Cash’s session is a perfect example of why I always encourage seniors to think about locations that mean something to them. Your senior photos do not have to be taken at the most popular spot in town to be incredible. Sometimes the best locations are:
These places tell your story– that’s what senior portraits are really about.
