Hi there! My name is Jordan, and I’m a senior and wedding photographer based in Bowling Green, Kentucky. I’ve been capturing and documenting life’s special moments for the past 10 years—honestly, I can’t believe it’s been that long!
Planning your senior photos in Bowling Green, Kentucky is one of the most exciting parts of senior year. Choosing the right location helps tell your story—whether you want something classic and elegant, modern and urban, or natural and outdoorsy.
As a Bowling Green senior photographer, I’m often asked where the best places are for senior portraits. The good news is that Bowling Green and the surrounding areas offer so many beautiful spots that work perfectly for high school senior photos and college graduation pictures. Here are some of the best senior photo locations in and near Bowling Green, KY, plus tips on the best time of year to schedule your session at each one.
Western Kentucky University is one of the most iconic locations for senior photos in Bowling Green. It’s especially meaningful for seniors who want to announce where they’re headed for college or for WKU graduates celebrating their degree.
The campus features classic red brick buildings, beautiful white and classic columns, a cute historic bridge, unique buildings with beautiful aesthetic, and scenic views from the famous Hill overlooking Bowling Green. These backdrops create timeless portraits that feel both polished and meaningful.
Many seniors bring college pennants of their future college (especially if it is WKU!), jerseys, or cap and gown outfits to personalize their photos and celebrate the next chapter of their lives.
Best time of year:
Spring and fall are the most popular seasons for senior photos on campus. Graduation season in April/May, and November/December. You will see many grad sessions during this time as it is also perfect for cap-and-gown sessions. If you have a high school senior, I would recommend spring or summer as the campus is surrounded by beautiful trees and flowers blooming.
Why seniors love it:

If you’re looking for a timeless and elegant location for senior portraits, Hobson Grove is one of the most beautiful places in Bowling Green. Many of my clients mention that they are blown away by how large it is, and that they plan to come back just to explore the grounds. Beware, the hills will leave you breathless as you walk up them!
The historic Victorian mansion at the top of the hill provides stunning architecture, large staircases, and manicured grounds with tall luscious trees that photograph beautifully. It’s a great option for seniors who want a classic and polished look for their photos, and a special note: the neutral colors of the house also work well with almost any outfit. Hobson Grove is incredibly versatile too as it is surrounded by trees, trails, and a white picket fence near the golf course. This is great for your outdoorsy or simple grad!
Best time of year:
Spring and fall are especially beautiful when the surrounding trees and landscaping are in bloom. Fall at Hobson’s Grove is one my absolute favorite places in Bowling Green- the colors come alive and are so vibrant!
Why seniors love it:

For seniors who want something fun, creative, and urban, Downtown Bowling Green offers endless photo opportunities.
From colorful buildings and murals to brick alleyways and historic architecture, downtown provides a unique urban feel that stands out from traditional park locations. Seniors often love taking photos near Circus Square, the Capitol, Spencer’s coffee, historic churches, parking structures that have the city in the background, colorful storefronts, and hidden alleyways. The options are endless!
Downtown is also perfect for seniors who want to include multiple outfit changes since each block offers a different look.
Best time of year:
Downtown sessions work well year-round, but spring, summer, and fall evenings are the most comfortable and offer beautiful lighting.
The best part about making downtown Bowling Green your location for senior photos is stopping off for something to eat or drink. I am convinced that downtown is the place to go for Bowling Green classics: try some home made ice-cream at The Meltdown, a warm and delicious coffee at Spencer’s Coffee, pizza at Alley Pub and Pizza, or a steak dinner at 440 Main or Hickory and Oak when you are done with your session! You cannot go wrong with any of those choices!
Why seniors love it:

The Boxwood is a hidden gem in downtown Bowling Green and one of the most charming places for senior portraits with a calm and serene garden feel. Located across the street from the Lisa Rice Library, this gem is typically not spotted as you are driving down the street. I kind of love this place for that reason- it is not very populated, but it does require a fee to shoot at. Please let me know if this is where you would like to have your location so I can reserve a time for us!
This location features a beautiful courtyard, lush greenery, beautiful floral blooms, and classic architecture that gives photos a soft and romantic look. It’s perfect for seniors who want something elegant but still natural.
Best time of year:
Spring through early fall when the greenery and plants are at their fullest!
Why seniors love it:
The Cliff Todd Center is a fan favorite for senior photos in Bowling Green! It is a great choice for seniors who want modern and unique senior photos, but also for those that like a garden feel and beautiful sunsets peaking through the trees. The place has so many aspects that are eye catching!
The building features interesting textures, architectural lines, and clean backgrounds that create a more editorial feel. This location is especially popular with seniors who want something different from traditional park settings.
Best time of year:
This location works well year-round because the architecture creates visual interest in any season, so even in the winter when colors have faded, the architecture is still stunning!
Why seniors love it:

Do you love trees, trails, and creeks to splash in?? Romanza Johnson Park is the park for you! It is a favorite of seniors who love beautiful nature-inspired portraits!
The park features a creek, walking trails, open fields, and tree-lined areas that create soft, natural backgrounds. It’s also a great spot for seniors who want a relaxed and laid-back feel for their photos. The only to think about (I know it’s at the top of my list to consider) is that there is always a chance for snakes when are in so deep in nature, and water of course brings mosquitos. I always have bug spray in my bag when I go here!
Best time of year:
Spring, summer, and fall are especially pretty when the trees are blooming or changing colors.
Why seniors love it:
River Bend Blooms is one of the most stunning locations for seniors and is only 20 minutes from Bowling Green. Located in Scottsville Kentucky, it features rows of vibrant seasonal flowers that create a colorful and dreamy backdrop. During peak bloom, the fields come alive with layers of pinks, purples, yellows, and whites stretching across the landscape. As the sun sets, warm golden light washes over the flower fields, giving photos a soft, glowing, almost magical feel.
This location is perfect for seniors who want romantic, bright, and joyful portraits surrounded by natural beauty. The flower farm offers rows of seasonal blooms that create colorful and dreamy backgrounds. Another reason this location is so special is how peaceful it feels. With open skies, rolling fields, buzzing bees, and flowers stretching into the distance, the entire setting creates a relaxed atmosphere that allows seniors to feel comfortable, confident, and truly enjoy their session.
Best time of year:
Late spring, summer, and early fall when the flower fields are in full bloom. Each part of the season brings different flowers, meaning every visit offers something unique and beautiful.
An important note: only River Bend’s select partnered professional photographers can photograph at this location. Thankfully, Jordan Z Photography is on this list, and I would love to capture your senior here! Please keep in mind that there is a small fee to photograph here, but I promise it is worth every penny.
Why seniors love it:

Steenbergen Farm is a beautiful countryside and family owned farm located just outside Bowling Green in Russleville. The property features beautiful flower fields, multiple sunflower fields, a tree swing from your southern dreams, a beautiful white painted greenhouse, open fields, and scenic farmland views that create a warm and timeless backdrop for photos. It’s especially popular for seniors who love a country aesthetic or want portraits that feel relaxed and natural.
Family sessions are a great option here, too! Check out this beautiful maternity session in my galleries taken last year at Steenbergen Farm with some of my favorite friends, the Gaddies.
Best time of year:
Late summer is the best time as the sunflowers and flower fields are only in bloom for a few short weeks. During this time the fields turn warm golden tones and the sunset light stretches across the property- it’s stunning and almost must to visit!
Why seniors love it:

Ruby Branch Farms offers a peaceful countryside setting with rolling fields that create beautiful Kentucky-inspired senior portraits. This location is perfect for seniors who love the southern farm feel, open spaces, beautiful sunsets, and floral backgrounds, and natural scenery.
Some of my favorite times to capture photos here are during their tulip season in the spring, and during their zinnia and sunflower fields at the end of July, and early August. Please keep in mind that these beautiful fields are all dependent on the weather and rain, so dates I listed are rough estimates and can change each year.
Best time of year:
Early spring, and late summer are especially beautiful with the sunflowers and zinnia fields.
Why seniors love it:

While Bowling Green has so many beautiful locations for senior portraits, sometimes the most meaningful place for your session is one that is personal to you. Choosing a location that reflects your hobbies, passions, or daily life can make your senior photos feel even more authentic and special.
For some seniors, that might mean taking photos at a family farm that has been part of their life for years. Others may choose a location tied to their future plans—like the veterinary horse fields where they spend countless hours caring for animals and learning the skills they hope to turn into a career (click here to see more on Lily’s precious senior session with her horse). Including places like this helps tell the story of who you are right now and where you’re headed next.

For the best lighting and weather, most Bowling Green senior portrait sessions take place during:
The best lighting for senior portraits is usually 1–2 hours before sunset, also known as golden hour. During this time, the golden sun reflects on the skin perfectly, smoothing out any imperfections and giving you such a beautiful glow! I will always suggest shooting during this time and not during harsh sunlight when shadows are harsh under our eyes and the sunlight is blinding. One word of advice is to trust your photographer on the time of day-we understand the lighting better than most and only want the best for our clients!

Senior photos are about celebrating your journey, and sometimes the best location isn’t the most well-known spot in town—it’s the place that means the most to you. If you have a location in mind that is special, unique, or part of your everyday life, I’d love to hear about it and help create a session that truly reflects your story.
Many seniors also choose two locations for their session so they can get a mix of backgrounds—like starting downtown and ending in a field at sunset!
If you’re ready to schedule your senior photo session, I would love to connect with you and start planning a session that reflects your personality and this exciting season of life.
